Just two days after the tragic school building collapse which left 20 dead and many others injured at Ita-Faji area of Lagos Island, Lagos State, another building has reportedly collapsed in Oyo’s capital city, Ibadan.
According to reports, the building which is located at Shogoye, Idi Arere area of Ibadan was still under construction.
Speaking to newsmen about the incident, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shina Olukolu confirmed that three people have been rescued so far. He stated that rescue operations are still going on at the site and excavators have been deployed to aid in the operation.
Mr. Olukolu further said that the Police is working with the State Emergency Agency (SEMA) to save as many people as possible.
As of the time of this report, the cause of the collapse has not been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has confirmed the figure of casualties in the Ita-Faji Lagos, Island incident.
The rescue official confirmed the number of dead victims as 20 as the government of the state commence demolition of illegal and unfit buildings in the area.
