President Muhammadu Buhari will visit Imo and Akwa-Ibom States today to thank his supporters for his re-election and campaign for All Progressives Congress candidates ahead of Saturday, 9th March Governorship and State Assembly elections.
According to reports from reliable sources, the President is set to visit the two South States among others after his re-election to thank those who voted for him on February 23 and also appeal to people to vote for his party’s candidates on Saturday.
Meanwhile, there have recently been some internal strife and disagreement between the Imo Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and some APC elites including APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole and Imo Governorship candidate for APC, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Recall that Governor Rochas who recently won the Imo West Senatorial seat with the APC platform was suspended a few days ago by the party’s National Working Committee chaired by Oshiomole.
Governor Okorocha who rejected his suspension was accused of being anti-party because he was supporting his son-in-law, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu the Governorship candidate for Action Alliance Party (AA) over the APC party’s candidate, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Apart from Uche Nwosu of AA and Hope Uzodimma of APC, other top candidates who are expected to make waves in Imo Guber elections on Saturday include Former Deputy Speaker of Nigeria and Flag Bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Senator. Ifeanyi Ararume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and one-time Imo Governor and current Flag Bearer for the Accord Party, Mr Ikedi Ohakim.
President Buhari is also scheduled to visit Taraba, Kaduna, Sokoto and his home state Katsina before Saturday’s elections.
