President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to work harder in his second term in office as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The president made this promise while speaking to Leaders of the AREWA Consultative Forum, AFC who came on a courtesy visit to the president at the state house in Abuja today.
The president promised to work harder this second tenure by improving security in the country, improving the economy, continuing his fight against corruption, creating more jobs and upgrading the country’s infrastructure.
President Buhari was quoted saying;
“This is my last lap. I will try and work even harder than I have done. I assure you that I will not let you down. I pray that my best will be good enough.
“At the end of this second and final term, I will, God willing, return to Daura and settle down. Until then, I will continue to do my best for Nigeria, in security, infrastructure, jobs, fighting corruption. I will work even harder than I have done; I will not let Nigerians down.” He said.
President Buhari thanked the AREWA Consultative Forum members for their resilient and unwavering support as he assured them of his gratitude towards their goodwill.
Speaking on behalf of ACF, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mallam Adamu Fika, disclosed that they visited to congratulate and felicitate with the president on his re-election.
He recalled some important project in the North, like the Baro Dry Port and Mambilla Hydro Power station which have been abandoned till 2015 and which president Buhari recommissioned.
“It is pleasing to note that since then, the Baro Dry Port has been commissioned, while some other projects have been reactivated and are now being implemented.” He said.
finally, he called on the bodies charged with the implementation of these projects to work hard to complete them in due time.
“We pray that those organs of government charged with the responsibility for the implementation will double their efforts to ensure that these projects are executed fully to their logical conclusion within a reasonable time.” Mallam Adamu said.
