The People’s Democratic Party, PDP is currently leading the gubernatorial race in Kano state.
The PDP’s governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf is leading the incumbent governor and the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje with a reasonable margin after collation in 43 Local Governments out of the total 44 Local Governments in the State.
Abba Yusuf has gained a total of 951,431 votes as against Dr. Abdullahi’s 935,451 votes to be in the lead.
With only a Local Government remaining to be collated, PDP and Abba Yusuf are looking confident of victory as they lead the race with a margin of 16,080 votes.
Meanwhile, collation has been adjourned in the remaining Local Government, Nasarawa L.G.A following reports of attacks and violence at the collation centre of the L.G.A.
The Presiding Officer of Kano state, Prof. B.B Shehu and the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu made this decision after reports got to them that the incumbent Deputy Governor, Nasir Yusuf Gawana, the Commissioner for Local Government in the state, Sule Garo, and the Chairman Nasaraw L.G.A, Lamin Sani allegedly led attacks on the venue of the Local Government’s result collation with thugs in an attempt to destroy the results.
