The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship flag bearer in the just concluded Lagos state governorship elections, Mr. Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje has denied speculations that he dumped the PDP party following his defeat in the Lagos Guber polls.
There have recently been rumors and speculations that Agbaje who represented the PDP in the March 9 Guber elections has dumped the party after trying unsuccessfully to ascend the Lagos state governorship seat with PDP for the past three general elections.
Reacting to the rumor, Mr. Agbaje has denied the credibility of the news, waving it off as been false and tagged it as an opposition political propaganda.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Mr. Modupe Ogunbayo to newsmen, Jimi Agbaje denied the rumors and re-ascertained his commitment to the People’s Democratic Party, which he tagged as the best party.
Speaking in the statement, Mr. Agbaje’s spokesperson, Modupe Ogunbayo said:
“In the past 24 hours, Mr. Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the recently-concluded 2019 election in Lagos state, has received uncountable calls and messages from numerous friends, teeming political associates within PDP and countless members of his supporters, that he has resigned from the PDP.’
“Mr. Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje is still a card-carrying member of the PDP. He remains committed to the broad-based party, which he remains absolutely certain, has the best antidote to the yearnings and aspirations of the Nigerian peoples.’
“It is another chunk from the ongoing propaganda and disinformation machinery of his foes. Mr. Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje urges all to treat the rumor with the disdain it wisely deserves.’ he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Olujimi Agbaje was the runner-up in the March 9 Governorship elections in Lagos state, coming behind the All Progressives Congress candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu who won the elections.
