The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has announced that it will conduct a supplementary presidential election on Saturday, 9th March 2019 along with the governorship and state assembly elections slated for that day.
INEC made this announcement through a press release on their official twitter handle, @inecnigeria, just hours ago.
According to the statement which was issued by Mr. Festus Okoye, the Chairman of the commission’s Information and Voter Education Committee today, the supplementary elections will be conducted in areas where elections were cancelled or places where elections could not hold.
The decision to hold this supplementary election was reached after an extended review meeting between the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu and the Regional Electoral Commissioners, at the INEC headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
