The Enugu state faction of the All Progressives Congress party (APC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the governorship and state assembly elections scheduled to hold in the state on Saturday.
The party’s state chairman, Dr Ben Nwoye made this appeal to INEC while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday. He was addressing the Appeal Court’s judgement which sacked the party’s Guber candidate, Senator Ayogu Eze.
Recall that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) removed Senator Ayogu’s name from the governorship candidate list for Enugu state on Tuesday, thereby leaving the space for APC blank.
INEC posted on their website; “Upon this disobedience to the lawful court order that the INEC decided to expunge the name of Senator Eze as the candidate of the APC and left its space in the list blank.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Ben Nwoye after addressing newsmen led party supporters to the INEC office in Enugu, demanding that the commission re-enlist Senator Ayogu’s name and postpone the election to give the party time to campaign.
He described INEC’s removal of the APC candidate as an act of wickedness and a plot to undermine the party in the elections.
