Chelsea’s operation to sign Kai Havertz this summer is moving forward with Antonio Rudiger trying to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues centre-back played a key role in convincing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner to sign for the club, who pulled off a major coup by landing the free-scoring Germany star for £53million.
Rudiger, who plays alongside Havertz with the Germany national team, has been in contact with the Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid for a ‘couple of weeks’ to discuss him making west London his new home.
Chelsea have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner this summer, and Frank Lampard wants to add Havertz also to further improve his already exciting squad.
21-year-old Havertz scored 17 goals this season and also added nine assists to further emphasise his reputation as one of Europe’s finest young players.
And, according to Bild, ‘Agent Rudi’ is working to help Chelsea secure his signature.
Leverkusen are willing to cash in on prize asset Havertz this summer and they are believed to want around £90million for him.
Chelsea are expected to offload many of their squad players – including the likes of Danny Drinkwater and Emerson – to raise the funds for Havertz.
The Blues are also understood to be interested in signing Ben Chilwell, the England and Leicester left-back, when the transfer window reopens.
